October 11
Starting this week we will be returning to the building for our Tuesday evening midweek Bible study at 7:30pm. These studies will continue to be available online for anyone who is unable to attend in-person. We are continuing to take all our previous precautions on both Sundays and Tuesdays, including asking everyone to wear a mask in consideration of one another. We have not been limiting our assembly area to 25 people since Allegheny County went into green phase back in June, but are continuing to make accomodations for social distancing. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

The family at Eastside is taking measures to accomodate more people at our physical assemblies starting this Sunday, May 17th. We will continue to make all of our Bible classes and assemblies available online, but we hope to slowly start the process of transitioning back to our building. For now, this still only applies to our 1pm Bible class and 2pm worship assembly on Sundays.
We have rearranged our seating to help maintain social distancing. We have created a second assembly space upstairs to catch any overflow beyond 25 people. We have altered our method of distributing the Lord’s Supper so that no individual touches anything other than their own bread and cup. We are also asking all individuals to wear masks throughout services and observe other recommended health precations. If you are unable to wear a mask for health reasons or are showing any symptoms of sickness, we ask that you continue to connect to our services via Zoom for the time being.

These precautions are motivated by love and consideration for one another (Php 2:4). We continue to encourage everyone to walk by faith and not by fear. We hope the changes we are making will help more people receive the spiritual nourishment and encouragement they need during this diffficult time, and bring glory to our Father in heaven.
Remember… there is NOTHING more essential and life-sustaining than the Bread of Life Himself (Matt 4:4; John 6:48-51). Seek first the Kingdom! God bless!

The family at Eastside has decided to make all of our normal Bible classes and assemblies available online. We will be using an application called Zoom. If you would like an email invitation to join any or all of these studies, you can click the link below to sign up. Our doors will still be open for our 2pm worship service on Sunday, but not at our 1pm Bible study or our Tuesday night Bible study at 7pm. In our Sunday assembly, we will be taking many precautions to avoid unnecessary risks. We ask that if you are exhibiting any symptoms of sickness or are at a higher risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19 you conisder accessing our services online instead. We hope that these precautions and accomodations will help us all be able to continue worshipping, serving, edifying, and encouraging one another, without unnecessarily putting anyone around us in harms way.
In Psalm 91 God promises, “You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday” (91:5-6). Yet, when Satan quoted from this very Psalm to Jesus, He responded by saying, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test’” (Matt 4:4-7). We do not believe the Christian needs to fear this pandemic in the least, nor death itself for that matter (Rev 12:11). However, this does not mean we should put God to the test by knowingly putting ourselves or others in harms way. God Himself directed the Israelites to take many health precautions within the Old Testament (Lev 13:25-26). It is from this perspective that we seek to take these precautions today. We pray that none of our actions in this situation will be motivated by fear or a lack of faith, but that all may be done in wisdom and in love for one another.

Due to the continued rise in concern over the spread of COVID-19, we have decided to cancel our midweek Bible study for the time being. Our current plan is to assemble on Sunday, though we are still praying and discussing this decision.
We recognize that Christians should not be deterred from our responsibility to one another by the fear of death (Rev 12:11). Christians in the first century put their families at unquestionable risk in choosing to assemble in the face of Roman persecution. However, the Christians at that time likely changed a good many things about their assemblies to avoid unnecessary risks from persecution as well.
In a similar way, we wish to consider all our options in continuing to build up and encourage one another without exposing ourselves or others to unnecessary risks. Options for sharing our assemblies online and mitigating the risks of our physical gatherings are being explored. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this as a spiritual family.
